Špilberk Castle is a medieval fortress rising above the centre of Brno, dating back to the 13th century. Today it forms part of the Muzeum města Brna and hosts exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances and open-air cultural events in its courtyard. Its casemates once served as a notorious Habsburg prison.
