Fortifications Through the Ages
An exhibition exploring the evolution of fortifications from prehistory to modern times at Dobrošov Fortress, featuring interactive displays, underground passages, and virtual reality experiences.
The artillery fortress Dobrošov near Náchod was built in 1937-1938 as part of Czechoslovakia's border defences against Nazi Germany. Only three of the seven planned structures were completed - infantry blockhouses Můstek and Jeřáb and artillery blockhouse Zelený - linked by over 1,750 metres of tunnels running 20 to 39 metres underground. A museum exhibition has been here since 1968; a major renovation in 2019-2022 added a new visitor centre. The fortress is also a European protected site for bat hibernation.
