Nová Zbrojovka is a large-scale project turning Brno's biggest brownfield - the former Zbrojovka arms factory site in Židenice - into a new urban district. The state-owned Zbrojovka Brno was founded here in 1918; after its closure the site fell into disrepair until CPI Property Group took it over in 2016. Cultural events are centred mainly on Hala 76, a First Republic-era industrial hall of over 4,000 m² (capacity 2,300), and the area around the former boiler house with its chimney. Concerts, markets, festivals and corporate events are held here, with an open-air cinema running in summer.
