The National Theatre Brno (Národní divadlo Brno) is a multi-ensemble institution founded in 1884, funded by the City of Brno. It comprises drama, opera and ballet companies performing across three venues: the Mahen Theatre, the Janáček Theatre and the Reduta Theatre. The Mahen Theatre was the first theatre on the European continent with electric lighting and hosted the world premieres of several Janáček operas. The theatre organises the international Janáček Brno festival and the Divadelní svět Brno theatre festival.
