About the venue

Městský dům kultury Karviná is a city-run cultural centre that has anchored Karviná's cultural life since 1964. The building is notable for its stained-glass façade depicting the region's mineral wealth and a wooden sculpture by local artist Jindřich Wielgus in the foyer; the main hall seats 620. The venue hosts concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and courses, and also runs the Centrum and Ex cinemas as well as an open-air cinema. Regular highlights include the Karviná Music Summer, the Prolínání kultur festival and Karvinské varhany.
