68th Smetana Litomyšl Festival
The traditional Smetana Litomyšl classical music festival is held in the arcaded courtyard of the castle. One of the most beautiful concert venues in the Czech Republic.
Litomyšl Castle is a Renaissance monument inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1999. It was built in 1568–1581 by Vratislav II of Pernštejn and later enriched with baroque and classicist modifications in the 17th–18th centuries. A unique highlight is the preserved castle theatre from 1797. The castle is the birthplace of composer Bedřich Smetana, and since 1949 it has hosted the Smetanova Litomyšl music festival.
