Church of St. James

Brno

About the venue

The Church of St James the Greater is a late Gothic three-nave hall church on Jakubské náměstí in the historic centre of Brno, with origins dating to 1228. Rebuilt from a Romanesque structure into a Gothic church from the late 14th century with the participation of Anton Pilgram, its 92-metre tower was completed in 1592 and remains the tallest church tower in Brno. Declared a national cultural monument in 1995, the church now offers a multimedia exhibition in its roof trusses, a bell-tower tour and a viewing platform; beneath it lies the second-largest ossuary in Europe.
