About the venue

The House of Art, also known as the Slavíkovský Palace, stands on Masaryk Square in a Renaissance building from the third quarter of the 16th century, erected on the site of two earlier Gothic houses. Its distinctive features include a Gothic-Renaissance entrance hall with stone pillars and an arcaded courtyard linking the main wing to the Dolní Česká street tract. Since 1967 the building has housed exhibition spaces of the South Moravian Museum in Znojmo, with permanent displays covering old art of the Znojmo region, coins of the Lands of the Bohemian Crown, and the medallist Jan Tomáš Fischer. The first-floor halls are used for temporary exhibitions of contemporary art, while the arcaded courtyard hosts theatre performances for children in summer.
