About the venue

An early Baroque noble palace on the Upper Square in Znojmo, built in 1666-1674 on the site of two medieval burgher houses. The façade features a tall order of Corinthian pilasters and a balcony portal, above which two stone coats of arms of the Starhemberg and Scherfenberg families are set into the wall. In the winter of 1631-32, Albrecht von Wallenstein stayed here and received his appointment as Generalissimo of the imperial armies. The building now operates as a guesthouse with historically furnished rooms and occasionally hosts cultural events.
