About the venue

Budvar aréna is an ice hockey stadium in České Budějovice, opened in 1946 as the third artificial-ice rink in Czechoslovakia. After a full reconstruction in 2001-2002 it holds over 6,000 spectators and is the home arena of Banes Motor České Budějovice, a top-flight Extraliga club. The complex has two covered halls: the main one for league matches and a smaller training rink that also hosts public skating from September to April. The name comes from the Budějovický Budvar brewery.
