Brno Velodrome

Brno

About the venue

The Brno Velodrome in the Pisárky district is the oldest continuously operating velodrome in the world - the first races were held here on 21 July 1889. Its current form dates from 1967-1969, when the 400 m concrete track was roofed with a steel structure designed by Professor Ferdinand Lederer and upgraded to host the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, which took place here in both 1969 and 1981. TJ Favorit Brno has managed the venue since 1957. Alongside daily training and UCI-calendar races, it regularly hosts large concerts - Iron Maiden, Linkin Park and Motörhead have all played here - and since 2024 it is also home to the Pop Messe music festival.
