Entertainment Under the Walls – Ignis Brunensis 2026
A city-wide festival of entertainment, culture, and sports in Brno from May through summer, featuring spectacular fireworks and drone shows.
Náměstí Svobody - nicknamed Svoboďák - is Brno's main square, with roots going back to the 13th century when crossing trade routes gave it its distinctive triangular shape. The square is lined with notable buildings: the Renaissance Dům pánů z Lipé, the neo-Renaissance Klein Palace, and Bohuslav Fuchs's functionalist Komerční banka from 1929. A 2006 reconstruction added a bronze fountain engraved with verses by poet Jan Skácel, and in 2010 the Časostroj - a granite sculpture-clock referencing the Swedish siege of 1645 - was installed. Markets, festivals and concerts fill the square throughout the year.
