The botanical garden in Průhonice forms part of Průhonice Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park was laid out at the turn of the 20th century and covers more than 250 hectares. It holds thousands of plant species - rhododendrons and irises among the most prominent - and also serves as a research base for the Czech Academy of Sciences' Institute of Botany.
