The Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) is the oldest art school in the Czech Republic, founded by imperial decree in 1799. As a public university, it offers master's and doctoral programmes in painting, sculpture, printmaking, intermedia, new media, restoration and architecture, with teaching based on individual studio work. The Academy's gallery GAVU, relocated in 2024 to Veletržní street, presents works by students, graduates and faculty.
