About the venue

Archeoskanzen Modrá is an open-air museum near Velehrad reconstructing a Slavic fortified settlement from the Great Moravian period (9th century). The buildings stand on genuine archaeological remains, with their above-ground sections based on specific finds. Visitors can try their hand at old crafts, watch experimental metal smelting or pottery making, and take part in educational programmes. Traditional annual events include the Veligrad historical festival and the Day of Honey and Mead.
