The Human Body in Works of Old Masters

A guided tour of the Schwarzenberg Palace exhibition focuses on the depiction of the nude human body in works by Renaissance painters, representatives of Rudolfine Mannerism, and masters of Baroque painting and sculpture.

Guide Alexandra Brabcová will discuss the inspiration and creative work of painters Lucas Cranach the Elder, Maerten van Heemskerck, Bartholomeus Spranger, Hans von Aachen, Peter Paul Rubens, Bartholomeus van der Helst, and Michael Leopold Willmann, as well as sculptors Benedikt Wurzelbauer, Paul Heermann, Matyas Bernard Braun, Ferdinand Maximilian Brokoff, and others. The stories about their works will be complemented by narratives about Adam and Eve, Lucretia and Sophonisba, and figures from classical mythology. After the tour (approximately 1.5 hours), there will be time for individual viewing of individual works.

Admission to the collection: standard 250 CZK, reduced 140 CZK (seniors 65+, students), free for children under 15. Members of the Friends of the National Gallery in Prague do not pay admission.
