The Story of the Vogel Family & Ruth Aviram (Vogel) — Breda Point, Opava

A lecture and discussion dedicated to the story of the Vogel family, an Opava business dynasty, continuing the Stolpersteine project. The Herrmann & Vogel company in Opava is known to many from the exhibition about Eva Herrmannová - this time the focus shifts to the second of the named families. Otto Vogel was a co-owner of the company, his brother Emil was a significant employee.

Historian Jaromíra Knapíková from the Regional Archive in Opava will present the fates of the sibling duo Otto and Emil Vogel and their close relatives (approximately 30 minutes). Then comes the story of Ruth (Rita) Vogelová, now with the surname Aviram - daughter of Emil, born in Opava in 1932. Ruth and her mother survived imprisonment in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, where Ruth befriended Eva Herrmannová, who was three years her senior. Ruth will fly to us with her family from Israel, and after the lecture there will be a moderated discussion with space for questions from the audience.

The discussion will be interpreted into English.

Expected duration is 90 minutes. Tickets can be purchased via www.goout.net, at the reception of the Municipal House, or on site.
