Baroque Evening in Mariánská Týnice
The Museum and Gallery of Northern Plzeň Region presents a Baroque Evening on September 4, 2026, from 17:00 at the pilgrimage church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Mariánská Týnice. The event is part of the Marian September weekend celebrations (September 4-6) within the Summer Baroque Festival.
The evening opens with a ceremonial presentation of a new museum acquisition - one of the copies of Mauritius Vogt's book Das jetzt lebende Königreich Böhmen from 1712, a German-language work describing the historical Czech kingdom with rich illustrations. The book demonstrates the breadth of knowledge of this Cistercian, polymath, writer, and musician.
The second part features Baroque sacred music performed by the Plzeň ensemble Societas literatorum and the Brno choir Silentium! ensemble under the baton of conductor Marek Rajnoch. The programme includes compositions by Mauritius Vogt, Josef Antonín Plánický, Gunther Jakob, Jan Josef Ignác Brentner, and Antonín Reichenauer; highlights include Jakob's compositions Dixit Dominus and Te Deum, and the newly discovered Litaniae lauretanae ex G by M. Vogt.
During the intermission, refreshments will be available and visitors can tour the church with both galleries, including current exhibitions.
