Josef Koudelka: Invasion 68 – Exhibition at Otakar Kubín Gallery in Boskovice

Galerie Otakara Kubína, Boskovice

Josef Koudelka, a world-renowned photographer from Valchov near Boskovice, is exhibiting his legendary Invasion 68 series at the Otakar Kubín Gallery on Masaryk Square in Boskovice. The exhibition presents nearly the entire collection – a total of 50 panels of black-and-white photographs taken during the dramatic days of August 1968 in central Prague, capturing the atmosphere of Soviet occupation and people's reactions in the streets. The images are considered one of the most important photographic reports of the 20th century and have become a symbol of resistance against military oppression. The photographs come from the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. The exhibition curators are Tomáš Pospěch and Gabriela Sauerová. This is the very first presentation of this author in his hometown. The opening reception took place on May 15, 2026 in the presence of the artist; the following day, a discussion with Josef Koudelka was held at the Panorama cinema, accompanied by a projection of photographs with music. The exhibition is open until September 20, 2026. The gallery is open Monday to Saturday 8:00–17:00, Sunday 8:00–16:00, with a lunch break 12:00–12:30.
