Scottish and Irish folk ballads and songs with Czech lyrics by Jan Lašťovička celebrate 50 years on stage.

Asonance was founded in 1976 and is one of the longest-running ensembles on the Czech folk scene. The group specializes in Irish and Scottish ballads, dances, and instrumental compositions - reels, jigs, and hornpipes.

Current lineup: Jan Lašťovička (artistic director, guitar, electric guitar, bouzouki, Irish uilleann pipes, vocals, Czech lyrics for all songs), Klára Fanta, née Lašťovičková (vocals, flutes), Jan Ráb (violin), Roman Slaboch (vocals, percussion), Petr Bohuslav (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Luboš Pick (bass guitar, guitar, bouzouki, vocals), Mirko Rokyta (keyboards, vocals), Jan Gajdoš Doležal (drums), Veronika Chudobová (violin), Abba Mrvová (flute, whistle, Blair digital bagpipes), and Petra Sladká (vocals).

About the venue: Měšťanská Beseda

Měšťanská beseda is a Neo-Renaissance building with Art Nouveau décor, erected by the Pilsen citizens' association in 1901 and ceremonially opened on 29 December of that year. Following an extensive renovation completed in 2005, it serves as one of the most important cultural centres in Pilsen. The venue houses several halls and salons, the Beseda Cinema, the Jonáš Theatre and an Art Nouveau café, with a total capacity of over 1,000 persons. Concerts, theatre performances, balls, film screenings, festivals, lectures and children's events take place here almost daily. The building is a listed cultural monument and received the Building of the Year 2005 award.
