Asonance
Legendary Czech folk-rock band Asonance, performing since 1976, presents Irish and Scottish ballads, traditional dances and original arrangements in an unfinished monastery.
Asonance is a Prague-based folk-rock band that has been bringing Irish and Scottish ballads, dances and instrumental pieces to Czech audiences since 1976. Founded by students of the Jan Neruda Grammar School - Jan Lašťovička, his brother Pavel, Milan Štěrba and František Korecký - the group has been led by Jan Lašťovička ever since. From the early 1980s the band focused exclusively on Celtic repertoire, with Lašťovička writing all Czech-language lyrics; Irish uilleann pipes, bodhrán, bouzouki and twin fiddles are hallmarks of their sound.
The band released the album Malcolm (15 tracks, 58 minutes) - their eleventh studio album at their own expense.
Asonance launched a tour for the album Malcolm, performing in March 2025 among other places in Jihlava.
The band is preparing a major anniversary concert for the 50th anniversary - the main celebration will take place on September 12, 2026 in the amphitheater at Konopiste.
In January 2022, the band's longtime vocalist Hana Horká (1985-2022) passed away; after a six-month break, the band continued with a new lineup.
