Parallel Mothers

Two women find themselves by chance in the same hospital room, both waiting to give birth. Both are single and became pregnant by accident. Janis (Penélope Cruz) is middle-aged and thrilled about her condition; young Ana (Milena Smit) is frightened and traumatized.

Janis tries to encourage her, and together they wander through the hospital corridors like sleepwalkers. A few words exchanged in those hours between them create a close bond that develops further, becomes complicated, and decisively influences their lives.
