Pedro Almodóvar is a Spanish film director and screenwriter whose work is defined by bold colour, strong female characters and melodramatic storytelling. He holds two Academy Awards - for Best Foreign Language Film (All About My Mother, 1999) and Best Original Screenplay (Talk to Her, 2002). In 2024 he won the Golden Lion at Venice for The Room Next Door, his first English-language feature, marking his first top prize at a major A-list festival.
