Ctirad Macháně - Handpan Concert
Ctirad Macháně from Nový Bor is a multi-instrumentalist and one of the Czech Republic's leading handpan players. As a pianist, he regularly performs at Oybin Castle in the Žitava Mountains; as a drummer, he was part of the pop-rock band Tcheichan; and as a percussionist, he works in projects such as Ubuntu with Šimon Bilina.
His musical journey began at age three with the xylophone - he gradually added piano, guitar, and percussion instruments, and at twenty took up the drum kit. The sound of oriental and resonant instruments led him to the handpan, which became the foundation of his solo project. In his compositions, he combines the handpan with instrumental backing tracks and ambient recordings from the Lusatian Mountains.
At the concert, his first solo album will be available for purchase, released in September 2026.
