Prague's Paris in Vršovice

The walk begins at the former barracks building - one of the largest in Prague - and leads participants along broad boulevards reminiscent of Parisian architecture. Stops will include the striking residential buildings Washington and Chicago, the first enclosed block of tenement houses in Prague, and the site of one of Prague's most famous plant nurseries. The tour will cover the breeding of mulberry silkworms and silk production in this part of the city. The route also ventures into the oldest part of Vršovice with its low houses, nicknamed the "Vršovice open-air museum".

The programme also includes two functionalist churches and the district's industrial heritage - the operations of the Koh-i-noor company and a Baťa branch with a shoe shop and repair workshop.
