The Atavists + Beach Bum

The Atavists are a Czech rock band influenced by surf and stoner styles, formed in late 2014. Their sound centers on frontman, guitarist and main songwriter Adam Krofian - a baritone voice, devastating guitar lines, wailing electric organ and synthesizer, backed by a hard-hitting rhythm section.

The band reached the final of the international GBOB competition in Berlin, performed at numerous Czech festivals, and opened for Norwegian Kvelertak. Their debut album Bad Times came out in early 2016, followed by Lo-Fi Life in March 2018 - which won two Anděl awards a year later (Discovery of the Year and Best Rock Album). After 2019, when the band opened for Muse and Skunk Anansie among others, the lineup changed. In their new formation, they released the album Prettier Than You in 2022, nominated for an Anděl in the Rock category.

As part of their autumn tour, The Atavists will perform at Alterna with Brno-based Beach Bum.

Beach Bum play alternative rock with punk roots influenced by the nineties, featuring female vocals. The Brno band from the Kabinet Records roster has been active since 2020 and has released an EP, the album T-Rex Goes On Holiday, and the album Utopia on blue vinyl.

In that time they've clocked thousands of kilometers, countless concerts at home and abroad, and opened for Buzzcocks and DZ Deathrays. This year they performed in Iceland as only the third Czech band ever.
