Exhibition: Votice in Old Postcards — Votice Monastery, Votice

The exhibition presents over 500 old postcards from villages and settlements in the Votice region. The postcards come from an extensive collection that the Zimova family from Benešov has preserved and expanded for three generations.

About the venue: Votice Monastery

The former Franciscan monastery of St. Francis of Assisi in Votice is a Baroque monastic complex founded in 1627 by Count Sezima z Vrtby. Its current form dates from a major reconstruction in 1766–1771. After being seized by the communist secret police in 1950 and used for industrial purposes, the monastery was restored and reopened in 2015 as a cultural centre. Visitors can explore permanent exhibitions (Franciscan life, regional museum, pram and doll collection, Gallery of St. Francis), seasonal exhibitions, and cultural events.
