All the President's Men

DOX invites you to a summer film evening under the stars - this time featuring All the President's Men.

The film recounts the Watergate scandal, which began in 1972 and culminated in 1974 with the resignation of President Richard Nixon. In exposing the scandal surrounding secret funds and the discrediting of political opponents, reporters Robert Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post played a crucial role. This docudrama, in which the famous duo were embodied by Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, tells the story of journalistic courage, patience, and persistence.

The reporters piece together their revelations from dozens of facts and witness statements, encountering reluctant witnesses, their fear of potential consequences, and pressure from the highest levels. Woodward uses a mysterious informant (Hal Holbrook) from government circles, who meets him in underground garages. A key figure in the story is also editor-in-chief Bradlee - Jason Robards won an Oscar for his portrayal.

The film benefits from an authentic depiction of editorial backstage life and is an example of inventive work with tension that dispensed with chases, shootouts, and superhuman supermen.
