I Am the Mother of Your Children, Mom
How do you break free from a cycle of crime and addiction in your family? How do you realize that as a person you always have a choice in who you become and which path you take? How do you become the best older sibling, or perhaps a mother? How do you come to terms with the death of those you love most, yet who were most destructive - your parents? How do you simply survive it all as an abandoned child?
The protagonist guides the audience through a personal confession that comes alive on stage through dance, music, and performative storytelling. She returns to the past, embodying her parents marked by drugs and gang culture - and stepping into the role of the oldest sibling searching for strength to lead where functional authority is absent.
A raw, dynamic story that doesn't remain locked in the past but spills into the present. The project is created with support from the artistic community TANACETUM.
