Two Decis of Ink

Two Decilitres of Ink is a biographical documentary film whose quality can be measured simply: a viewer unfamiliar with the subject will feel the desire to meet him after watching.

Ester Geislerová captures her father Petr Geisler (1949-2009) - a Japanologist, translator, journalist, educator and calligrapher - as an exceptional figure in Czech cultural life at the end of the twentieth century. Yet she does not lose sight of the intimate and family dimension, both joyful and painful. From photographs, home videos, letters and memories, she assembles a portrait of an extraordinarily educated, original charmer who remained mysteriously elusive even to those closest to him.
