Two Decis of Ink

A documentary portrait by Ester Geislerová that explores the inner world of her father, Petr Geisler, a renowned Japanologist and calligrapher who died prematurely. The daughter constructs his image from family archives, personal letters, and memories of friends, while the contrast between the grey normalization-era Czechoslovakia and the vibrant Tokyo of the 1980s forms the natural backdrop of the story.

The film touches on human failures and successes, the longing for freedom, and the attempt to capture the trace of a man with enormous charm and Renaissance talent, who remained a mystery to his own family in many ways.

The film will have its world premiere at the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Special Presentations section.
