I, Plisecka

An intimate theatrical production about the life of a prima ballerina.

Maya Plissetskaya - a symbol of twentieth-century world ballet, synonymous with The Dying Swan, Carmen, and Anna Karenina. In 2025, one hundred years will have passed since her birth.

The production explores the artist's life story through a multidisciplinary form that weaves together theatre, expressive dance, and ballet. It traces the evolution and transformation of ballet art against the backdrop of historical events.

The dramaturgical concept places Plissetskaya at a moment of recovery following an injury: a woman in her early fifties reflects on her life in conversation with two foreign journalists. The audience encounters not only her iconic stage roles - Carmen, Odette / Odile, Kitri, Anna Karenina, The Dying Swan, and Bolero - but also the backstage and political mechanisms of power in the Soviet Union of that era.
