Alone by the Forest

A Prague family buys a country cottage - but along with it comes the original owner, a stubborn old man. He rents them one room and promises to sell the whole house, but keeps postponing the sale. The eager Praguers are left with no choice but to share the roof with him on weekends and holidays.

From the clash of urban and rural characters, screenwriters Zdeněk Svěrák and Ladislav Smoljak drew a series of comic situations while capturing the cottage-owning phenomenon that spread in the 1970s.
