PLI - Viktor Cernicka — Industra, Brno

PLI is a solo performance at the intersection of dance, physical theatre, and visual art. Viktor Cernicka works with 22 conference chairs, obsessive rhythm, and his own body - in an endless cycle of construction, deconstruction, and reconstruction, he transforms ordinary objects into visual compositions, movement into sculpture, and chaos into an organized whole. The piece draws from the Baroque philosophy of Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and builds on spatial restraint and material minimalism.

Since its premiere in 2018, PLI has been presented on more than 120 stages worldwide - from Paris's Théâtre de la Ville (the very first Czech choreography ever shown at this theatre) through Barcelona, Rome, and Stockholm to Bangkok and Hong Kong. Among nearly 700 projects, PLI ranked among the twenty European works in the prestigious Aerowaves Twenty20 catalogue. In 2019 it won the Audience Prize and the Grand Prize of the Czech Dance Platform; Viktor Cernicka received a nomination for concept and choreography in the Dance and Movement Theatre category at the 2019 Theatre Newspaper Awards.
