The third edition of the Žižkostel in Motion festival runs from July 20-24 in the main hall of Žižkostel. New this year are daily afternoon classes for parents and children, alongside workshops for adults.

The programme brings together contemporary dance, voice work, contact and theatrical improvisation, new circus, and movement theatre. Notable figures from the Czech independent scene will perform, including Ridina Ahmedová, Věra Ondrašíková, and Alžběta Tichá.

About the venue: Žižkostel

Žižkostel is a community centre housed in a reconstructed Czechoslovak Hussite church in the heart of the Žižkov district of Prague. Co-founded by Husitské centrum o.p.s. and the CČSH religious community in Prague 3, it has been working with local families since 2004. It offers cultural events, courses, social and therapeutic services, a low-threshold club for children and youth, and space rental including a large hall.

About: Ridina Ahmedová

Ridina Ahmedová (born 1974, Prague) is a Czech vocalist and performer of Czech, Russian-Jewish and Sudanese heritage who transitioned from jazz clubs to experimental vocal music and theatrical work. Together with double bassist Petr Tichý, she established the duo HLASkontraBAS - a project built on voice, acoustic bass and looper - which received an Anděl Award nomination in 2016. The project evolved in 2019 into Hlaskontrabas Oktet (four vocalists and four double bassists), whose 2024 album Kaleidoscapes won first place in the Czech Radio Jazz poll for best Czech jazz album of the year. Beyond music, she directs the Hlasohled voice centre and produces award-winning audio-documentary podcasts.
