Břevnov: History and Villas

A walk through Břevnov connecting 19th-century buildings, interwar villas, socialist-era construction, and modern houses from the last twenty years with natural corners of the neighbourhood.

Participants will explore the first section of a 300-year-old pilgrimage route leading to one of the oldest Loretan chapels in the Czech lands. You will learn which world-famous personalities spent parts of their lives in Břevnov, and discover the area known as Little Vatican and a row-house colony designed by architect František Roith. The programme also includes a cinema hidden inside a games hall, a view of St. Vitus Cathedral from an unusual vantage point, and the history of Břevnov told in a place characteristic for this neighbourhood. The walk is led by Jiří Hendrich.

Practical information:
- Meeting point: by the chapel near Malovanka tram stop
- Duration: 1.5 to 2 hours
- End point: St. Florian's chapel on Anastázova Street
- Admission: 250 CZK (adults) / 180 CZK (students, pupils, seniors 65+, children from 12 years) - always with a pre-purchased ticket. Children under 12 free.
- Cancellation: tickets can be rebooked for another date up to 24 hours before the start, or you can send a substitute who registers under the original name.
- The terrain is not suitable for prams or wheelchairs.
