What If? + Paradise Birds

An evening featuring two dance performances as part of the TANEC PRAHA festival.

What If? – Michaela Šeligová
A dance performance for three artists exploring movement between choice and fate: how far can the body go when decision, chance, and impulse meet in a single moment? Three performers function as a triangle of energy – sometimes as independent beings, sometimes as one whole. The performance uses no sets or props; a pure, open space lets the bodies and the tension between them shine.

Michaela Šeligová (born 1992, Banská Bystrica) is a graduate of the J. L. Bellu Conservatory and the HTF VŠMU (Modern Dance Didactics). She teaches at the J. L. Bellu Conservatory, leads a student ensemble, and is a member and co-founder of tanC o.z. She has contributed to productions by the Slovak National Theatre (Adventure at the Harvest Festival, Carmen a la Gypsy Devils, The Devil and Kate), DAB (The Calling of the Pope), and the Prague project Prague – Peter and Lucia; she regularly performs at Seefestspiele Mörbisch.

Paradise Birds – Yana Reutova
An original solo that moves on the edge of inner conflict, tracing a path through doubt, resistance, and acceptance. Movement oscillates between adaptation and choice, between the need for connection and the necessity of setting one's own boundaries. The solo forms the final part of a full-length programme premiering at the TANEC PRAHA festival on June 22, 2026; each of the three parts is also performable independently.

Yana Reutova has been working in the Czech Republic for four years. She comes from Chornomorsk near Odesa, where she ran her own children's dance studio. This solo is the culmination of a two-year creative process that began at a residency with Brazilian dancer Clara da Costa as a shorter outdoor duet called Womanhood. In Prague, she focuses on her own artistic work and community work with children and their mothers, as well as with children from children's homes.
