The Magic of Musical Instruments at Kittel House

Kittelovo muzeum p.o., Pěnčín

On the first floor of Kittel Museum in Krásná–Pěnčín, an exhibition titled "The Magic of Musical Instruments" showcases historical instruments from the private collection of Prague collector Jaromír Růžička, built over more than 40 years. The collection is primarily composed of wind instruments—brass, woodwind, and mixed metal—from the late 18th century to the first half of the 20th century. A total of 121 instruments are presented, including curiosities such as a marching bell chime, the distinctly Czech rarity violinophone, flageolet, czakan, and tarogato. The oldest exhibit is a clarinet from 1798 from the Prague workshop of Franz Dolejš. The exhibition is part of a broader programme at Kittel Museum for 2026, thematically focused on wood and sound. The museum is housed in a restored timber-framed Kittel House (called Burk) from the mid-18th century, one of the largest timber-framed houses in Bohemia. Open daily except Monday, April–October 9–17.
