The National Heritage Institute – Klášter Sázava administration and florist Ing. Klára Franc Vavříková, in cooperation with the City of Sázava, announce a children's art competition. The 2026 theme is LIGHT AND SHADOW. The competition runs from 1 February to 1 August 2026 and is open to individuals from preschool age to 18 years old, school and kindergarten classes, hobby and art groups. Participants may draw, paint, model, create collages, prints, and three-dimensional works – using any art technique. Inspiration can be found in how light behaves in tree canopies, how fireflies glow, or what shadow theatre is. Individual and collective works (formats A4–A1, 3D objects) must be submitted by 1 August 2026 to: Klášter Sázava, Zámecká 72, 285 06 Sázava. Each artwork must be clearly marked on the back with the child's name, phone number, email address, and age (class) – unmarked works will be displayed but not entered in the competition. Works will be judged by an expert panel after installation (10–12 August), and winners will be contacted by 13 August. The results will be announced and prizes awarded on Sunday, 16 August 2026 during the traditional Květinový den festival. On that day, any artwork can be purchased for any price (benefit) – proceeds will go towards restoring whitewashed murals in the monastery cloister. Artworks are not returned after the competition.
