Haas - Days After Glory

An original production by Martin Dvořák for an actor and dancer, based on available sources about actor Hugo Haas and his brother Pavel, who died in 1944 in the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The concept stems from their imagined conversation before Hugo's death, in which Hugo recounts his own life. An actor portrays Hugo Haas, while a dancer embodies his brother Pavel - both remain on stage throughout. The speaking dancer represents the realm of the dead brother, full of symbolism and metaphysics, while the actor inhabits the world of the still-living Hugo with his pain, uncertainty, and reality.

The production is designed for a small space and emphasizes a combination of realistic dramatic performance and stylized movement choreography. The musical component draws from composer Pavel Haas's chamber works and Hugo Haas's film compositions; the music is by Jan Hanák Sonority.
