Princess Stella wakes up in a different form every morning. With only a week until her eighteenth birthday, if she cannot be cured of this mysterious affliction, the transformations will follow her for life. The King, Queen, and wise men try every available remedy and method; marriage is offered as another hope. A charming knight named Johan enters the tournament and wins the princess's hand - but in doing so, he incurs the wrath of the feared Emperor Ukrut, who wanted Stella for himself.

Not even a hasty marriage helps the princess. Johan promises to travel to the ends of the earth to find a cure for her. He is surprised when Stella secretly joins him on the journey - Johan is the only one she trusts. The journey leads them directly to Emperor Ukrut, who apparently suffered from a similar affliction himself, and the cruel emperor's aide Ramor is hot on their heels the entire time.
