Rental Houses by Maxim Monter in Central Brno – Walking Tour

Architect Maxim (Maxmilian) Johann Monter (1865–1942) spent only six years in Brno (1904–1910), during which he worked as a professor at the state German industrial school. In that time, he left a distinctive mark on the city's inner centre through a series of houses built according to his designs. His Brno work illustrates the rapid transformation of architectural styles – from late historicism and Art Nouveau to a distinctive style with modernist expression.

The walking tour visits houses designed by Monter and is led by art historian Pavla Cenková. The meeting point is at 5 p.m. on the courtyard of the House of the Lords of Kunštát, Dominikánská 9. The tour is organized by the House of Art of the City of Brno as part of the Brno Architectural Manual programme.
