Return to Reims (via Olomouc) - Parent Friendly — nacucky!, Olomouc

A theatrical production loosely inspired by the book of Didier Eribon, one of the most prominent French intellectuals of our time. The play asks: what is it like to grow up in a working-class family, not fit in, and return to a place you have permanently left? And what does this personal experience have to do with how we think about social polarization and politics today? Themes of class identity, queer identity, and the personal journey toward freedom intertwine with humor, perspective, and self-irony.

Director Adam Svozil, twice winner of the Mark Ravenhill Prize, transforms Eribon's theoretical essay into a staged conversation. The author is interviewed here by a cheerful "worker in culture" named Karli - unfiltered and straightforward. Reflections on queer identity, distrust of intellectual and political elites, the rise of right-wing extremism, and the role of working and middle classes blend with personal memories of growing up in Reims - and also in Olomouc, where the director himself comes from. This is the third collaboration between Divadlo nacucky! and Adam Svozil, and also the first queer production in the ensemble's repertoire.

Cast: Jan Lepšík and Jiří Svoboda. Set design: Pavla Kamanová. Duration: 100 minutes without intermission. Premiered on 6 December 2024.

This is a parent-friendly revival - childcare during the performance is included in the ticket price. Parent-friendly activities are supported by the Czech Savings Bank and the Czech Savings Bank Foundation grant programme "We Can Do More", in cooperation with the Via Foundation.

Warning: the production uses strobe lighting and smoke effects.
