Stories of Brno's Fountains and Wells — Stará radnice, Brno

A guided walk through the historic fountains in central Brno and their role in the city's everyday life. Today they are seen mainly as decorative elements of public space - but in the past they served as a crucial source of water and a symbol of municipal care. Servants and housewives from neighbouring homes would gather at them to draw water and exchange news from the city. The fountains thus fulfilled not only a practical but also a social function.

The route will lead from the Old Town Hall through the Vegetable Market, Dominican Square, Freedom Square and James Square to the park at Kolište. The walk focuses on both well-known and less obvious Brno fountains and traces their transformations over time.

Meeting point: courtyard of the Old Town Hall
Guide: Martin Koplík
Free entry, registration required

At the end of the walk you can participate in the competition "Urban centrum celebrates 20 years" by filling out a competition ticket.
