Nettles Where My Home Stood — Medova Villa, Humpolec

For centuries, a farmstead of the Novák family stood opposite the Church of St. Margaret in Loukov. In the early 1950s, the communist regime confiscated the farm, and in 1953 the couple was evicted despite their hope of spending their final years there. The farm was taken over by a collective agricultural cooperative, and its gradual deterioration led to complete ruin by the 1980s.

This conversation with Jana Čížková, granddaughter of the last farmers, explores the fate of a family marked by collectivization. It is accompanied by a projection of period photographs of the vanished farmstead. Commentary by Rostislav Šíma, editor of Memory of the Nation.
