Věra Martinová & Meritum - 40 Years on the Solo Stage

You are cordially invited to a unique Christmas concert by Věra Martinová and the band Meritum, taking place on the second Sunday of Advent at the Loket Cultural Centre Dvorana. This concert celebrates 40 years of Martinová's solo career. Věra Martinová is a distinctive figure on the Czech music scene with an unmistakable style. She began her singing career as a guest with Gustav Brom's orchestra, then performed in the all-female country group Schovanky. Since 1986 she has performed solo, delivering hit after hit: "Malý dům nad skálou", "Dál jen vejdi", "Až na vrcholky hor", and "Toulavý džíny". Though often called the "first lady of Czech country" or "a pillar of domestic popular music", Martinová considers herself above all a musician through and through, open to all musical inspirations and influences. She continues to delight her audiences with beautiful songs featuring quality lyrics.

In 2020, Martinová and her band Meritum released a new album of the same name, recorded with acclaimed musician Boris Carloff. The album contains 11 original Czech songs (including a duet with David Stypka) and one cover version, "Bez nebe ráj". The Meritum collection was very positively received by music critics and has enjoyed great success with audiences and sold-out concert attendees.

The Christmas concert will feature a programme of festively-themed Christmas songs from the album "Foukneme do svící", naturally including Martinová's greatest hits from the exceptional compilation "Zlatá kolekce Věry Martinové - JAKO DŘÍV", as well as new songs from the latest album "Meritum". Come and enjoy an evening of beautiful music and soak in the unique atmosphere of Advent time in the company of excellent musicians.
