Hlaskontrabas Oktet

Four voices, four double basses - Hlaskontrabas Oktet is a band with an unusual line-up and distinctive sound. The unique instrumental arrangement creates an intense sonic experience, taking listeners on a journey through sound landscapes. Their 2024 album Kaleidoscopes, released on Animal Music, received a nomination for the Anděl Awards and won the Czech Jazz Harvest critics' poll, organized by Czech Radio. The project grew out of the duo of Ridina Ahmedová and Petr Tichý, but has expanded into a full ensemble of eight leading Czech musicians, with compositions newly arranged to fully utilize the possibilities of live performance.
