The exhibition presents an extensive collection of paintings and drawings from several interconnected cycles. More than 160 works on display create a complex visual whole in which autobiographical memory, historical imagination, medieval iconography and symbolic figuration merge into a distinctive painterly language.

About the venue: Egon Schiele Art Centrum Český Krumlov

A gallery and cultural centre opened in November 1993 in the buildings of a former city brewery dating from 1606-1608. The permanent exhibition covers the life and work of expressionist painter Egon Schiele (1890-1918), whose mother was born in Český Krumlov - on display are drawings, watercolours, Schiele's own furniture and his death mask. Across 3,000 m² of exhibition space, the centre also hosts rotating shows of classical and contemporary 20th- and 21st-century art, studios for international artists, a museum shop and a café.
