The Church of St. Maurice is a Gothic three-naved parish church in the centre of Olomouc, first documented in 1257. With a capacity of 4,000 worshippers, it is the largest Gothic sanctuary in Moravia and has been a National Cultural Monument since 1995. The interior is dominated by the Baroque organ built by Michael Engler (1730–1745), with 5 manuals and 7,884 pipes, ranking among the largest organs in Central Europe. The International Organ Festival is held here every September, and the southern tower is open to visitors as a lookout.

About: Karel Martínek

Karel Martínek is an organist, improviser and composer based in Olomouc. Since 2020 he has served as choirmaster and principal organist at St. Wenceslas Cathedral there, and teaches at the Evangelical Academy Conservatory. He studied improvisation privately with Philippe Lefebvre of Notre-Dame in Paris, and since 2012 has been building his "Organ Bible" project - online improvisations on every chapter of the Bible.

About: Akademický sbor Žerotín

Akademický sbor Žerotín is one of the oldest Czech choral ensembles, based in Olomouc and founded in 1861. It takes its name from the Moravian nobleman Jan Zikmund Žerotín. The choir performs both sacred and secular repertoire, regularly collaborating with prominent Czech and international musicians.

About: Pavel Koňárek

Pavel Koňárek is a Czech choral conductor. He studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, and since 2016 has served as chief chorus master of the Janáček Opera at the National Theatre Brno - a role in which he has prepared over fifty productions. He also leads the Academic Choir Žerotín at the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, a post he has held since 1995.
