A concert performance of Dvořák's opera Rusalka takes place on Friday, 28 August 2026 at Zámek Skalka in Podbřezí. Tereza Mátlová sings the title role of Rusalka alongside other soloists from the National Theatre in Prague, accompanied by pianist Zdeněk Klauda. This is one of seven Czech dates on Mátlová's tour across 2026 and 2027. The performance offers a chance to hear Dvořák's most celebrated opera in the intimate setting of a castle, where classical music meets historical surroundings. Admission starts at 250 CZK.

About the venue: Zámek Skalka

Skalka is a baroque castle perched on a rocky spur above the Zlatý potok stream at the northern edge of Podbřezí in the Rychnov nad Kněžnou district. A Gothic stronghold first recorded in 1360 was rebuilt as a Renaissance manor by the Mladota ze Solopysk family around 1600, then remodelled into its current early-Rococo form between 1736 and 1739. The castle is a listed cultural monument and is known as the setting of Alois Jirásek's novel Temno, which he wrote after visiting in 1908. The interior is not open to the public, though the castle chapel occasionally hosts exhibitions.

Lucie Hilscherová is a Czech mezzo-soprano from Hranice na Moravě. She appears as a guest soloist at the National Theatre in Prague, the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre, and other Czech opera houses, and performs regularly with symphony orchestras including the Czech Philharmonic. She is a laureate of the International Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition, Cantilena Bayreuth, and the Musica Sacra competition in Rome. Her repertoire spans baroque music, major oratorio works, and contemporary composition.

About: Martin Šrejma

Martin Šrejma is a Czech tenor, a graduate of the Prague Conservatory and two-time laureate of the International Singing Competition of Antonín Dvořák in Karlovy Vary. Since 2012 he has been a soloist of the Opera of the National Theatre in Prague, covering a wide repertoire from Mozart and Verdi to Wagner and Czech opera. He won the main prize at the Opera 2020 festival for his portrayal of Živný in Janáček's Fate.
